At Vitalis, every step of our process is designed with precision and care to uphold the highest standards of quality and purity.  Our milk is triple-tested to ensure its purity as 100% human milk and to screen for microbial contaminants, adulteration, and pathogens. All donors are screened for risk factors like communicable diseases, drug use, and blood-borne pathogens and are required to pass blood tests prior to donating. Upon intake, every milk donation is tested for pathogens and spores. We also use the MIRIS Human Milk Analyzer–the only FDA-approved HMA to assess nutritional content and confirm authenticity. After freeze-drying, each batch is re-tested for microbial safety to ensure consistency and quality.

There are currently no FDA regulations governing the sale of breast milk. However, Vitalis operates under strict internal protocols that meet or exceed industry best practices for food safety. Our product is not considered a drug or formula substitute, and we make no medical claims.

Every donation is analyzed using the MIRIS Human Milk Analyzer (HMA)—the only FDA-approved HMA for verifying the macronutrient and caloric content of human milk. This allows us to confirm that every batch is 100% human breast milk. We do not rely on assumptions or trust-based sourcing—we verify every single donation through scientific analysis.

Milk is pasteurized using the gold standard in human milk processing-The Holder pasteurization method: milk is heated to 62.5°C for 30 minutes in a water bath, then rapidly cooled. It is then gently freeze-dried after passing post-pasteurization testing.

When properly stored in a cool, dry place, Vitalis milk powder lasts up to 3 years. Once rehydrated, it should be fed immediately and used within one hour.

Breast milk naturally contains complete proteins, essential fats (like DHA and ARA), carbohydrates, immune-supporting antibodies, enzymes, and vitamins and minerals. It is specifically bioavailable, meaning babies can absorb and use its nutrients more efficiently than with alternatives.

No. Vitalis milk is 100% pure donor breast milk—nothing added, nothing removed. It’s rigorously tested, gently pasteurized, and freeze-dried to preserve quality without the need for preservatives, fortifiers, or fillers.

Yes—when handled properly, freeze-drying preserves most of the core nutrients and bioactive compounds found in fresh breast milk. Our process is designed to maintain nutritional integrity, including fats, proteins, and antibodies, while making the milk shelf-stable for long-term storage without preservatives.

Vitalis is one of the first and only freeze-dried breast milk available on the market. Unlike milk banks that primarily serve hospitals and only sell in liquid form, we sell directly to parents, triple-test every batch, use gentle freeze-drying to preserve nutrients, and offer a product that is portable and shelf-stable for up to 3 years—all with zero additives.
